OBJECTIVE
Partner with Draymond Green Court organization to unveil new basketball gymnasium at the Oakland YMCA
BACKGROUND
The Oakland YMCA partnered with Draymond Green to install a new basketball gymnasium at the facility. This event necessitated the creation of a diverse set of unique deliverables, such as mockups of the basketball court itself; press passes for event coverage by the media; decals that were posted around the facility; and other wayfinding signage.
APPROACH
This event posed the challenge of designing a visual theme that captured the essence of the Draymond Green Basketball Court and the YMCA’s brand. The final design featured a greytone color palette with a knockout of the Y logo, central placement of the Draymond Green Court graphic, and a muted Oakland skyline vector graphic. This design effectively showcased the Draymond Green Court’s visual theme while also blending in with the existing YMCA branding. I am proud of this project, as it was a fixture that benefited Oakland youth and the families of the local community.
We designed four mockups of the basketball court, and settled on a design that would emphasize Draymond Green’s logo with YMCA branding on the sides.

We also designed a shirt to give away at the event. The shirt design took inspiration from the court’s layout, featuring the Draymond Green Basketball Court logo in the center with the Y logo on the shoulder.

We also designed poster decals and wayfinding signage that was posted throughout the Oakland YMCA for the event. These print assets helped the court blend in with the ecosystem of other Y materials in the facility.
