OBJECTIVE
Design and produce look and feel for the Golden State Warriors' 2024 Partnership Summit
BACKGROUND
The Warriors host an annual Partnership Summit, which brings together their corporate partners for a two-day conference. This networking event features speakers on a wide range of topics, from fan engagement and brand alignment to state of the business updates and trends in sports partnerships.
APPROACH
I created a color palette that echoed the basketball team's blue and yellow colors while communicating premium elegance through dark tones of navy blue and gold. I complemented these colors with a burgundy red in the color palette, which both underscored the event’s regal nature and connected the visual theme to the wine country region in which the event took place. I then created a variety of print assets, from signage and credentials to a stage backdrop, unified by this elevated look and feel.
The stage backdrop, the centerpiece for the event, demonstrated how complexities grow in projects with scale. From confirming final creative with the vendor to gathering internal buy-in on design, I had to collaborate with multiple stakeholders under timeline and creative differences.
The initial mockup the printer presented to the Corporate Partnerships department was met with critical feedback. I worked with the vendor on an alternate design that satisfied the Partnerships team, while working within budget and feasibility of fabrication on the vendor’s part. The final deliverable proved a showstopper, creating a powerful backdrop for the various speakers at the event.
This video shows the stage backdrop as a mockup during ideation with the printer, followed by the final output during several speaker sessions, from a fireside chat with artist Common to a women’s sports power panel featuring Cathy Engelbert, WNBA Commissioner; Jess Smith, GSW x WNBA president; and ESPN reporter Holly Rowe.
The print assets created for this event included wayfinding signage, credentials, and bar fronts. Printing across cardstock, acrylic, and foam core necessitated setting up printer files with accurate swatches, resolution, and color space.
This experience grew my familiarity with printing for a variety of surfaces and materials, allowing me to work with vendors to bring this project to a successful conclusion.
This video shows you the final deliverables in the wild, with a look behind the scenes at the asset’s working file. Setting these files up properly ensured what stakeholders previewed on screen during design and ideation matched what they saw in real life.
